400 block 4.40 bore 4.15 stroke 13:5 comp ported Victor heads and intake .690 solid roller 1.6 rockers 1050 dom.

702.4 hp @ 6300
662.6 tq @ 4800

pics to come later

HP seems kind of low, what rpm was it run up to?

6300 rpm @ 37 degrees timing #88 jets and it was 97 degrees ambient we were going to do a forth pull w/89's in it, but were not sure if we could duplicate correct air flow to justify it. Fuel per horsepower usage was dead on @ .397-.440 per # (you dyno guys will what I mean). ---- As far as low #'s!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT AN EXOTIC RACE ENGINE AT ALL. It is off the shelf parts - shaft rockers edlebrock heads etc. most (several engine builders) I spoke w/ assumed 650-675 including the shop the did the build. EVERYONE was very happy w/ the hp and the tq - they have done several builds similar and this was the highest producer yet by almost 35hp and 40tq. Shop owner said the heads came out REALLY NICE and that was the difference (335 @ .700). If I had B-1's or Indys I could see your point, but you could call Jegs or Herbert and probably have everthing in this engine shipped to your house w/ in a week.

Sorry, I wasnt trying to dis your build or make waves, it just seems that the hp peaks out at a relatively low rpm. Im sure that the engine runs great, and will really move your car.

No waves just wanted you to know where I was coming from and to Chris's barracuda - Basko's did the build and dyno ------- and it uses the stock length chrysler big block rods. -- Trying to answer a few questions in 1 post - sorry. Its pretty warm here (109 today) and just got done unloading it ouy the back of my truck and putting it on the engine stand so I am sweating my a$$ of and having a while I am responding.

Great power I can imagine the torque curve is very flat and useable from all RPM. is it a race only car? The reason I ask is if you've got so much torque you probably could put in a tighter more streetable converter and take better advantage of all that high port velocity grunt right off the line at 3200 instead of the vert side stepping most of it all until 4500. What gear is in the car?

Awesome power....hitting 700HP with a stock-ish 906 size port window is very impressive.

I thought the numbers were a little low at first too. The Victor headed motors I have seen on here and in magazines usually are in the 750+ range..but they were max wedge ported and had bigger cams, so that would explain the difference. I agree thats very good steam for that combo.

Fish, yeah I've got the Chapamn Max wedge's on my 517 that are on par with the CNC MAX Vic's.

I prefer the bigger ports but 700 with the standard port window is just phenominal...the Dommy I think is helping that combo a lot up top by keeping the pressure drop minimized.

Its a strip car only. It has a narrowed dana 60 w/ 4.88's in it. I thought it might blow through the converter a little since peak tq was @ 4800. or that it might just stall a little higher. Should I be expecting something else??

Loose converters work GREAT! You want to be over peak torque.

Thanks for the info! Certainly makes for some light pistons!

I have a good feeling it will run a lot quicker than 10.90"s. My car weighs about the same and I'v hit the 10.9's a couple times and have no where near that kind of power. I can't wait to hear about the time slips. Any idea when that will be?

Hey Wild Bill did some stuff to the car today and found out the oil pan on it will not clear. Someone (sorry forgot who) mentioned that earlier and they were absoultly correct. so I need to get a center pump pan, the speed shop already knows this and I sent the builder a pic of the engine compartment so he understands. I still need to get some stuff worked out w/ the mid plate and the headers. Hopefully it will be race ready in 6-8 weeks. Its still really HOT here so you get drained and dehydrated pretty quick. Today here at my place in Chandler it is 111 degrees and 14% humidity- you must drink lots of water!! --- Oh and buy the way it looks like the Nationwide guys are on rain tires!! Should get very interesting if you are into that sort of stuff. Its to hot out had to stop working on the car so now its time for a beer and watch some puddle racing.
