Can someone tell me if its just my imagination...Im tuning the stock 360 in my 72 Fury Wagon(HUGE CAR) and the more and more I do,the more and more spirited this engine is getting.
I mean,I cant believe just how well this Small Block motivates this big car, even with just a 2 barrel. Its also a quick revving engine,or is that my imagination too? Ive never owned anything with a 360,only a 318. Is it my imagination or is this a stout little engine, even in stock form.
Please, someone educate me about this engine,as I always thought 360's were just a "truck motor" Is there more to it than that?

Running a two barrel most certainly. But stick a decent four barrel on it and its a whole new ball game. Ive seen many a 340,360 even some 318s eat big blocks alive. All depends on what car they are in and whats been done to it.

I've eatin many BB cars with a 360. He has a stock 360,he's not beating much. This comming form a huge 360 defender. Everyone has a different perspective, but a 16 second car isn't going to strike fear into many. To the original poster,I don't mean to sound harsh. Please believe me. I have been experimenting with stuff like this for 36years. True story. I had the lowest factory rated HP 302 ford in history when I was 16 years old. It was sad and I got beat by a few weak 70's cars. After a lot of time spent tuning and a few parts swapped(I was young and had no $$$) it became a problem on the streets. So have fun and everyone has to start somewhere. Good luck with it.

Well, it is like any of the other popular American smallblock V8's. Decent power in stock form when well maintained, and enough potential left in it to be very responsive to common aftermarket speed parts like a 4 bbl, headers, etc.
My stock 318 liked an "RV" cam, a $50 used Performer intake, a small 4 bbl and changing the single exhaust to duals (Stock manifolds even)
I was planning on going 408" with my 360 Mag. but layoffs 2 years ago had me reselling my stroker kit and keeping stock internals, just buying pistons/cam, intake, etc. It'll still make a ton of power as a 360, compared to the 318 I was used to.

Maybe you got one of the experimental ones with the special 2bbl cam, Holley carb with fuel injection double pumping. Drop a Thermoquad or Mopar Qjet on there get that 400lb Holley 2bbl off there and see a bump in MPG
