Please post pictures of your M46 barracudas here. I want to be able to have a reference for some details when the scoops are finally repro'ed. Color combos, exact scoop location. Pin stripe details. Plus all the options that came with your car as a package. Are these cars as rare as claimed? I have owned 2 by accident. 1 was lemon twist and this fc7 car I have now. Most people have never noticed one before

The person to speak to about these is a guy named Dwight Rindt. He is probably the closest thing to an expert on these as you will find. I just hope whoever is making the repo's is a reputable vendor and not some fly-by-night outfit. A few have talked about making them but im concerned about how accurate those people will make them. Good luck!!!

I sold one of these cars 3 years ago. It still had alot of it's original paint and stripes but was rough. I had several pics on my old computer but it has a virus and I can't get it to work long enough to get the pics off.
Here's what the fender tag had on it;

EV2 C16 C55 M21 M46 N95
EV2 H6X9 000 A21 021811
E44 D13 BH23 G0E 113516
Mine was a 318, 3 speed, no p/s or p/b. It did have the driver side remote chrome mirror and also had the chrome door edge mouldings.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, I am going to look him up. My brother has been a plastics mold injector engineer for 30 years or more. He is a very maticulous type of person and has invented some interesting things in the past. I had thought about supplying him the money and letting him try to create the molds and process. He knows what type of mixes work with injections and temps. With my understanding of only around 400 M46 cars made. I figured a few hundred pairs of scoops of both types would be needed for supply and demand. The cost will be large for the mold and run do to the amount to be ran. But Jim (my brother) Has a way of getting this type of project rolling. Thanks for the help.

Here's my vin number then a pic of the car in it's current shape. It has 42k original miles and been locked in a garage since 1975

FC7 A62 C16 C55 C62 G31
FC7 H6X9 000 908 016662

On my fender tag, there is a 13 stamped with bigger numbers to the right top side of the tag. It is not like it is on a row/line, and is stamped in and not perferated out. Then the second fender tag is thin and small for 1 screw and says AR on it

If you want to make the scoops the original way then plastic isn't going to cut it. The scoops are cast metal, covered with urethane just like the bumpers were.

Here are a few shots including a rear view of a scoop to show how the urethane is applied.

By the way, this is one of Dwights M46 cars.

I'm in shock and aw Doug. How come there aren't many showing up around? And why have so few people heard of them? I saw 1 pic you did on a convert. Oh that was nice. The tech sheets were to hard to read for me. I was really interested in what I saw. Do you have an Idea on how many cars still exist? Thanks for sharing what you have done. I am greatful to be able to see what you have....ALAN

A few weeks ago I saw an M46 Barracuda here in CT. It was originally a EV2 383 magnum 4 speed car. M46 was on the fender tag. It is now painted red and has a 71 nose on it!!

The car in my sig picture is a M46. Originally white ext. and interior with a 383/4speed. The only thing still on it from the package is the trim around the trunk lid.

Yep

As soon as I get the originals I need for patterns (Vlad....?) I'll get started on them.

Thanks for the offer. I may have to take you up on it if I don't get it done here locally. It just hasn't been high priority yet.

Al: Does your early production M46 car have any signs of the original striping that separates the body color(FC7 in your case) from the black paint below the striping? The Sept. edition of the 1970 parts book lists two possible stripings for these M46 cars. One is the more common tomato red with the fluorescent white underneath it. The other, listed only in the Sept. edition is a blue with white combination. I believe your FC7 car would use the blue/white combination rather than the red/white. Maybe you can check the door jambs, etc. for any surviving pieces of this striping. Let me know if you come up with anything. The Sept 8,'69 production would be indicative of a car that would use that rare stripe combination. If you have any questions regarding this option, you can post them or PM me if you want.

My fenders are going to be repainted this coming week, I am positive my stripe was with the red. It was just like my lemon twist August 9 m46 car. Red pin stripe. But I will go dbl check anyways but pretty sure of what I'm thinking.
