Hey Diff
What do you think I should do with the nuts at the axle flange. Should they be torqued to 35 pounds as per the factory tightening sequence?
By the way, FWIW, The RTV silicone trick works on those axles bearings to seal the well known pesky Dana leaks.

Hi Lee,

I never have never torqed them. I always tighten by feel, snug, but not super-tight.

35 lbs. sounds about right, however.

Cool. Because they seemed to crush the paper gasket on the inside of the flange plate that keeps the axle in, but no leaks so far. I think the inner O-ring looked to small to seal.

By the way, I was thinking that maybe you can fabricate some kind of a break in machine that breaks in the rears before you ship them.
Almost like a road simulator that spins the rear end so that all the bearings, seals, gears, clutches and plates break in. A drop in ready to rock differential.
Saves every one aggravation and money in the end.
