A friend is working on a 70 Duster and needs some advice.

The gas guage does not register---he checked the sending unit and it shows to be working fine---there is a pulsed signal coming to the sending unit.

On he dash cluster board he tells me that the test light has a bright pulse on one side and a very dim pulse on the other side.

The ground strap at the tank is in place.

Any suggestions what is going on.

Sounds like the gauge itself is bad. Has he tried grounding the sender wire at the tank while someone watchs the gauge to see if it moves. Tell him to just ground the wire for a quick second so it doesn't peg the needle and burn out the gauge.
