Practice first. One thing I notice is that it changes appearance/texture with each coat, and its very dependant on coat thickness. You want the game-plan decided by this practice before you paint the item. 2-3 coats will do, but you want to decide 2 OR 3 before hand.
I prefer pretty wet coats myself--almost on the heavy side, but your practice session may give you different results.

Yes, I will be practicing for sure. I am looking for info on gun set up, mostly what tip size is good.

I used a 1.6 in a DeVilbiss gun (PPG paint) and it was fine. I don't remember specific PSI other than it wasn't abnormal so probably 40-45 at the gun
