I noticed that the old pushrods from my motor have holes in them for oiling. They are the INDY pushrods, I was running -1's and INDY rockers. I am now running a solid roller with 892 lifters and T&D shaft mount rockers. My question is when I go to order the new pushrods, do I need them to put holes in them again?

What would keep the rollers on the lifters oiled, which I am assuming is the holes is the cups in the lifters?

Hello Neighbor
The shaft mounted T&D rockers should oil through the factory passages in the block.
What lifters do you have?
The only way these would even work if you had the special lifters (AMC style) that leads to push rod oiling.
I plan to run pushrod oiling i conjunction with stock Hemi oiling on my new Hemi. The lifters I have will allow oil to travel through the push rods to keep the push rod tips and cups nice and cool. But at this point the holes will be very small. Were looking at .020-.030 restricter.

I am using the comp endure x 892 lifters. I just didn't know how the cups on the lifters and the wheels got lubricated without using pushrod oiling but I was unaware the pushrod oiling was for oiling the topside of the pushrods.

Oil splash, thats why we used to break old flat tappet cams in by reving the engine up, to permote good oil splash and to get the lifters turning in the bores.
Its also isnt a good idea to let new engines idle at low rpm's for extended amount of times.

I used the AMC style 848 comp endure-x in my hemi and my friends big wedge.Only sent oil up the exhaust pushrods on the hemi and all 16 on the wedge. The wedge has more problems with burnt cups,so to add pushrod oiling is a good thing.I have 2 years and over 8,000 miles on these lifters.I will also tell you that a loss of 15 lbs of oil pressure was present with both engines, but well worth the insurance with EDM lifters. The lifters get oiled through the lifter galley. You can see 2 oil orifices if you look at the lifter or go to the comp website for pic's.

So if I wanted to use the pushrod oiling, I would just need to order the pushrods with holes?

Yes,speak to Terry at Manton about using restrictors in the holes if your using a stock oil pump.
