I Finally started my 440 build after working on it for the past 2 years. It's a 446 six-pack with a comp solid set-up and stealth heads. After breaking in the cam for 20 minutes I noticed some smoke from the header flanges. Antifreeze coming through the valve cover stud. I've been told that I need to remove the heads and have them welded and then tapped to stop the leak. Is this a recommended procedure and if so does anybody know of a good shop in Ontario Canada who could do this at a reasonable price.

Looks like someone drilled that hole a little to deep. Just use a good sealer on the bolt and be done with it, No biggie. Stock BB heads had all the bolts going into the water on the exhausts. mike

Jam a short set screw in it with some silicone sealer and be done with it.

For insurance I'd also treat the engine with Moroso Ceramic Seal. Follow the directions on the bottle. You won't be disapointed.
