I have a 493, 12.5-1, Indy 440-1's, don't know what they flow.. 278/284, .690/.690 roller, with a '63 cross ram (casting date is 12/27/62) in a 3200lb car.. It runs 10.30's on a decent day. It will kill a lot of hp.
But it looks really cool.

your going to definitely lose 80 hp.
i picked up 80 hp from a oe maxwedge crosram, to a 440-25 offset crossram.
i thinking a loss of .3 in the 1/4 mile.
i went from this

to this.went froma 10.23 on a sealevel altitude in the spring to 10.14 on a 99 degree hot summer day with 4000 ft altitude.
it looks like with the proper jetting in the fall i'll be right at 10.00 to 9.95 with the 440-25.
heres the new intake setup.

just lost the velocity stacks, same as on my 65 dodge, i think the velocity stacks helped alot sealing the carbs to the hood.

On my 505 engine the factory style crossram cost about 100 hp when compared to an Indy single plane intake. The more power you're making the more the crossram will kill.

Towards the end of my development program I was making over 800 hp with that same 505 using an unported Edelbrock Super Victor intake. I didn't swap back to a cross ram at that point but I'm pretty sure the power would've dropped more than 100 hp if I had.

Here is one article on that engine, there are several more in the tech archives.
