Thanks for the info Robert, i forgot you were building one. I need Piston ideas too, something in the 10-10 1/2 comp range.

with 72cc J heads, KB forged flat tops will be 10.5:1 with a fel pro 8553PT gasket (.054" thick) will net you 10.5:1

the SCAT I beams probably won't need block clearancing. stockers will.

if it's a 73 or later 318, the rods are identical to 360 rods...you'll need to clearance the block. shoot for ~ .060" clearance between the rod bolt and the bottom of the cyl

Well this is JMO. My 416 has Wiseco pistons zero deck hgt. 72cc W2's. CR is 11.2. I believe that the 528 cam is around 254*@.050, This should work real good in a 408. The long stroke eats up alot of duration. How loose will the converter be? That intake will work very well with those heads. On my old 340 that manifold was faster the either a Holley street dom or the strip dom. The carb is good until you get some good heads. Then they really like a 950HP. I would use at least 1 3/4" tube headers as well. You will like the TQ they make. Jim

Thanks for the info Right now i have a 4200 stall with 3:91 gears, i plan on having the converter redone to the stall i need. I'm guessing in the 3000 range?

My cam is 272@050 610 lift. I have a TA 4200 convertor. It flashes 5400. If yours is a good converter. It might be very close as is. Are you going to use the cast or forge crank? Jim

I'm thinking cast steel for the crank to keep the price down as long as it will hold up ok. I'd like to stick with a solid cam, either the one i have or a bigger one if it will work. Here's the specs on the .528 solid i have. Not sure what the converter flashes at not but when footbraking the tires break loose about 3800 rpm. Thanks.

Well that is a pretty wide LSA for a stroker. Mine is 108. Will this be street driven alot or mostly strip? I think your converter will work pretty good as is. I would for sure try it before doing anything differnet.

The car will be street driven. I know zero about cam's but i want to get the right one in there the first time If i need a different one i'm open for suggestions but i'm hoping to stay with a solid because i'm already set up for it as long as the lifters and push rods from the 318 will swap over to the 360.

Well I would call a cam grinder you trust or PM member Fast68Plymouth. Dwayne is a Comp dealer and a straight shooter. He can give you much better advice than mine. I would trust what he recommends.
