Hi guys, been awhile since I checked in, but I have a question about my dad's race car. Although I'm now a "former" dragracer, I still go with my dad and help him out on occasion and Sat night I noticed that in the burnout the left tire smoked hard while the right put off very little smoke at all. This is a fully Cal Trac equipped Volare BTW. My first thought was to check the adjustment on the bars since he hadnt checked them in a few years, and the fact that the car would move a little left on the launch. The bars were indeed way out of adjustment, so I took care of that and the car then went arrow straight the rest of the night, BUT, there is still not much smoke out of the right rear tire, maybe a tad more, but still much less than the left. I've seen this occasionally on other cars, mostly ladder bar or 4 link cars that were not adjusted correctly, but only rarely do I see this. I have set up many cars for guys with the Cal Tracs, including my Dart, but I've never encountered this before on any of those. Any thoughts on whats going on here? Thanks guys. Ken.

sounds like a problem in the rear ens not the caltracs. I hope it don't have a spool doing that .

Ken How old are those tires I know your dad doesnt race that much. And tire rotation? Probably not but how knows. You have done enough cal trac install/setups Im sure thats not it. Did you ever notice this before like when you watched your dad drive or perhaps review any old video you may have? Any way Ken did not mention in his post that despite not having driven his dads care but once years ago and not having raced himself for a year-- He managed to race down to 6 cars in a tough 70plus car field at Gateway. He took out the Pro Class champion in round 4 that almost cost him a Championship on the final nite. So nice driving Ken! For him it IS just like riding a bike--------

How level is the front end? The fix is to crank up the left front T-bar a little or lower the right front T-bar a little, and reset the Cal-tracs....... If the car were scaled, I bet it would show more weight on the left rear tire........so adjusting the front end is the easiest way to even it out.........

It's probably just the tires. Swap them side to side and see if the smoke follows. I have one tire that puts rubber on the quarter panel and the other does not. So one tire melts easier than the other with this set. I have a spool.
Ron.
