I hit the track last night....
All was good intill second time trial.
I fired it up to head to the lanes, I noticed the oil pressure climbed to about 40lbs and the neddle started moving up and down 5-7 lbs. I rev'ed it up just little and it went right up to 60 lbs. It was fine that pass. I put a new gauge in it and was still doing it. but when I rev it up a little it stops and holds good pressure.
I ran 2 rounds last night and it did not do it again. I talked to a few and some say that there oil pressure gauge moves more then there tack at a idle and a few say that there is issues. (going to spin a bearing) The car did not slow up any (in fact it went 3- 10.45's and a 10.42)
I am pulling the filter today and going to take it to the local performance shop and cut it open & check things out.
Anyone else have issue's with there gauge moving around like that?
btw it never did it before till last night???

You said the second round, does oil temp. come into play on your motor normally, hotter equals lower? Mine does

i loose about 7-8 poinds at idle when it is hot.
my issue is the pressure bouncing up and down.
I have heard that means there is a bearing that is trying to spin. also heard that other's bounce up & dowm more then that.

Is this a BB or SB Mopar? I have expereienced the bypass valve in the oil pump sticking open which results in very little oil pressure until you clean it out, maybe yours was trying to stick and when you revved it up it cleaned itself out?

I have fixed the issue.
The local parts store did not have a good filter so I put on a temp "stock" little haystings.
I was tring to "crush" the filter. No fragmnets or anything.
All is good now.
