Doug,

Gene Gregory 618-488-7941 manufactures the challenger shaker
hoods, also BE&A has the most correct shaker ring as I'm told.

P.S. I received your return call,the brake
push rod I received was for a b-body and not an e-body. I have no e-mail address for you as I cleaned up my e-mails months ago. I have waited patiently for the return call and when you called I had no return number info.

Thanks, Martin Wimberly logan426 perfplus@fairpoint.net

www.restorick.com Has the challenger shaker hood conversion kits if you are interested in performing your own conversion. These are the former HARMS conversion kits which are super accurate and correct looking. The undehood shaker braces are virtually undistinguisheable from an original. This is the best way to perform an original looking shaker hood. But you have to perform the work on your own, or hire a professional body man to tackle the job. If done right, you will end up with a very nice, very original Challenger shaker hood for the fraction of the price of an original. I wouldnt hesitate to use one of these on an OEM restoration if done right.

I have a Gene Gregory performed conversion on a cuda shaker hood (Got it along with a 71 vert I purchased) and I can tell you that the top hood skin tin cans a lot and it's very wavy. Also, his underbrace doesnt look exactly like an original, there are visible differences.

I dont know if AMD already has the Challenger shaker hoods on sale.

Depending on the cars scheduled production date, it may not have crumple zones in the hood. If that is the case, doing a conversion with the top notch Domingo/Resto Rick shaker kit may be the only option.

Anyone know if the AMD hoods have crumple zones?

I believe either the AMD and/or goodmark hood has been avail for over a year, ready to bolt on.

there was a thread a while back where a moparts member just put one on a 70 challenger 6pack vert

found it

the CUDA AMD hoods has NO crumple zones. A la 1970-style.

the Challenger AMD hood HAS the crumple zone. A la 1971-style.

If you want a year-correct hood, you will need a Harms conversion kit and a correct flat hood.

I plan on doing that for my 1971 'Cuda.

If you're not worried about correctness, then by all means, the AMD hoods are nice. Very little body work req'd to get them perfect.

Even OEM Shaker hoods were wavy, thanks do the huge die stamping the trim ring recess in a weak area (before the brace was spot-welded in).

Not only that the AMD hoods do not have the crumple zones or not. I believe they dont have some features that are unique to the original Challenger shaker underhood braces, which are different than the cuda braces. More info on this post: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...rue#Post5372502

Domingo and others are correct, simple fact, if you want the most in original details without buying an original hood there is STILL no better way to go than the old Harms kits (now being sold by Restorick). If details don't matter than the AMD hood is definately the way to go.
