Got my caltracs today and there was no aluminum washers fir side to side on the front triangle up in the front spring hanger area... This is a mini tubbed dart... Are they necessary or what did you guys use.. Thx

Got them in but the rear shackles seem to have an offset... I guess I need a 3/4 offset shackle?

also note the different style pin as my last set of caltracs had a welded in solid pin...

I guess the way the spring boxes are welded in it would have the springs inside more than the frame rail....

call me stone age, but i don't think this is a problem. assuming the pins will line up with your spring perches, the shackles almost never line up perfectly. that the beauty of leaf springs- super forgiving. just pull those babies in and go. when your done, check rear end housing alignment, and you'll be good.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

Don't worry about pinion angle, Quick will fix it You should put some Wedgies behind your front wheels so this A body doesn't attack ya too

Caltracs dont require much negative pinion angle IIRC...

You need different cantilevers or you need to spend some time relieving those boxes.

The cantilevers I have for relocations boxes look nothing like those. That pin is welded in place on mine, nothing protrudes from the outer face. Like your old set up.

From the looks of this picture it looks like you put your boxs all the in so that they are flat with the out side of the frame. You didn't center the weld in boxs. That being said, you may have to buy those offset shackles for the rear. As for the front bracket of the cal-tracs that doesn't look like the ones that I got for the A-body with in board springs.

I bought the car done and dr diff is sending me some offset hangers.... and yes this is the first time I am seeing caltracs with the aluminum pin like that myself... they do go up in there though!

Thats cool.. My buddys Dart was the same way with his cal-tracs, just used the off set hangers.. He had the early type cal-tracs, IIRC we spread the front boxs alittle to make them move alittle easier.. Good Luck, and it's looking good.
