The K&N dominator flow control I have is a flat base and it has a 14" x 4.5" tall filter. You'll need lots of hood clearance. It fit under my hood when I ran an Indy headed wedge motor, but not w/ the Hemi I have now.
I recently bought (used from a member here) a 9" round K&N air filter setup for a dominator that's actually a marine application. It's a flat base but it's short. It came w/ a 2.75" tall filter, I had to swap it for a 2" tall filter to fit under my hood. It's small, but it and makes me feel better having a filter on it when I'm driving around on the street. dodgem, those look really nice.i'm going to look into them some more.how much of a drop are theese? the site would not link up for the details.
they are very nice pieces, but as others have pointed out, pricey. i got a lucky deal on a 16" at a swap meet...it just fits under the '68 Hemi style scoop. the drop measures 1 1/2"

What I did was take the 16" dominator air cleaner and cut out the top... use a heat gun to get out the filter in the 14" Extreme top to paint lid custom color or not but is tight enough of a fit to not use trim ring if desired and it will sit lower without the trim ring... Cheaper than the $300 units... $122 for 16" unit - KNN-60-1640 $78 for 14" "chrome" Xtreme top $69 for "colored" top $191-$200 total Plus I think its sharp looking....

Thats exactly what I was planning to do... until I found that a 16" air cleaner hits my hood reinforcements I'm going have to make a 14" fit. Wedgie- does that trim ring fit into the recessed portion of the 16" lid?
