This weekend I may finally get GO-Fish (my '68 B'cuda 'vert) back to the track. When I last ran her in Dec. 2005, she ran 15.59@ 86.51 with the stock (tired) 318 2bbl with 340 exhaust system and 3.23 SG. Now, she has a budget build 360. Stock bottom end. Improvements are: Scott Brown cam (268*/285*, .522/.515" lift, factory Magnum heads with MP springs, home ported, shaved .020, guides cut down, stainless exhaust seats. Calculated compression with thin MP head gaskets and smogger pistons, about 9:1. LD340 intake with Carter 440 AVS (large version). Still running 340 hp manifolds and full exhaust. Dynamics 9.5" converter built for this application. 3.55 SG running 245/60-15 (edit)street BFG T/A's. What are your guesses?? track elevation, 450ft, temp 75*?

I'd be happy with either! My immediate goal will be to crack 13's and 100mph. I'm thinking closer to 13.98 first time out, and closer to 13.48 with the bugs worked out. I checked my flash stall today, it is right at 3500 when you punch it while cruising slowly in 3rd gear. I'm not sure if I should run the street radials at 35 psi, or let them down to 25 psi. I guess that's what test and tune is for. Should I empty the trunk (spare, jack, etc?) or leave it in to help me hook? I guess that's what test and tune is for also...

First time out to test and tune tonight. I'm a little disappointed, but it will probably get better from here. First run, I was fighting vapor lock in the pits, before I even got to the tree. Then there was surging going down the quarter as it wasn't getting fuel consistantly. 14.99@ 91.01. BOO, I was angry, but knew the trouble. Let it sit for a half hour, then made another run. Punched it at the light and the engine stalled (carb). Lit it back off and ran a 23.31 @ 96.11, no vapor lock this run. Third run, adjusted carb door, left against the converter, ran 13.75 @ 96.40. Then she started leaking coolant/ overheating so I had to park it. Appears to be the lower rad hose beneath the P/S pump. So my basic goal was to beat my factory 340 car, and I did achieve that. Hopefully with more tuning I'll be able to trim some more time off the e.t. But I'm not optimistic at this point that I'll be able to crack 100 mph.

My 60' time on the third run was 1.904. That's about a tenth quicker than my 340 Dart also. It didn't seem like the B'cuda had much wheel spin. I'm a little underwhelmed. I did a lot of research to get this thing to run, and I guess I underestimated how bad 9:1 compression and stock exhaust system would hold me back.
I still may have it tuned on a chassis dyno to see how much more an "expert" can get out of it.

Should run between 105-108 mph would be my guess. Maybe a bit more.
et is all about the hook.
not a chance he'll run 105. He should be in the 13's. Again just depends on if you can get it to hook. Headers would help a ton. I'll guess 13.70 @ 98-99mph

I think you have a little left better launch and maybe headers and fee flowing (or no exhaust) Electric fuel pump and a 750 3310 holley avenger with vacuum secondaries
you can run 11's w/ 5/16 line w/o an electric fuel pump. Headers and a holley (or holley like carb) will help.

That has a lot better engine components than my pretty stockish 340 and my car ran 101-103.
That thing should be running closer to 375-400hp at the flywheel. Right now it isn't running right at all. Demonkyles 360/350hp car ran 103.50 with 2.73's and a bad tune for the location. That engine should kill the MPH in Kyle's car.
I do agree it won't run 108 with the stock manifolds and the carb sucks, but 105, is definitely in the ballpark.
Everybody has an opinion!

Okay guys, thanks for the encouragement. I do need to practice shifting manually, as well as go back over things again. I'll have to play to see how much RPMs the engine likes before power falls off. Its going to be a couple weeks until I can get back to working on the car again, need to determine where the coolant leak is and fix that, as well as go over the carb and make sure the secondaries are opening completely, etc. My little brain understands how Carters work for the most part, so I like them. But you may get me to try a Holley in the end. But I think the stock exhaust is here to stay. I like the stock look, and that's part of the deal with the Carter also.

Your loosing at least 25HP by running the Manifolds over a good set of headers, but it still should be breaking 100 MPH....

Ditch the exh. manifolds they're choking that motor, not a fan of carter carbs. a holley 750 should fit the bill, get yourself some sticky tires street tires are made for the street,as for running an electric fuel pump not a bad idea and certainly won't hurt anything, but just might improve things...
