I'm building a 68 hemi dart race car and I want the factory super stock look, so I'm looking for either the correct measurements or a pattern for were to cut the rear quarters. What did they do to the wheel tubs? What about the wheel well lip? I'm not going for a 100% clone, I just like the look. Who makes a correct looking hood for the car? There seems to be a lot of junk info out there about these cars, it almost makes the A/FX cars look like cake walk. Thanks.

If you go onto Bigblockdart.com you can buy a template of the "factory" style wheel opening. Bill Reilley has the template. From what I understand, it was taken from an actual LO23 Dart. http://www.bigblockdart.com/index.php/topic38890.0.html Look under Body/paint section.

These cars were not pretty ( ok, they are beautiful to me ) from the factory. The work done to them to convert them to race duty was relatively crude. I have often heard that no two wheel openings were exactly the same.

As far as the hood, you can choose from AAR quality fiberglass, VFN, etc. if you want a nice hood. If you want a cheap hood, then Unlimited makes a decent hood. Kramer auto makes a faithful reproduction hood, but I understand that they are heavier.

Here is a link to an original LO23 Dart restored by Muscle Car Restorations. Lots of pics to see. http://www.musclecarrestorations.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=10232

I love these Darts, and have gotten to work and crawl all over one several years ago. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for ya.

Oh, and DON'T FORGET TO TAKE PICS ALONG THE WAY!

I took a left front fender from a 68 Dart, turned it around on the right side of a 68 Hemi Dart quarter panel, and it almost lined up exactly...
