Yup red you may have to heat slightly with a propane torch to remove but after years of loose converter bolts i find that no problem.

I use the stuff in the blue container. I don't have to heat it up to remove.

Or perhaps the guys that realise how effective blue Loctite is... Most auto manufacturers have used blue to retain the caliper mounting bolts since the 70's if they figure it's good enough for everyone's brakes with the liabilities involved then it's probably more than adequate for torque converter bolts...

I allways figure if it needs loctite, it may as well be real loctite, never really had to heat anything to get apart, just allways careful to not round off the head. Red for me, I use blue for aluninum.

Blue is a good for most any thing,,271 red is if it absolutly, posativly, has to keep from coming apart, either will work but 271 is stronger.

If you absolutely, positively dont ever want it to come apart, there is a green loctite that will not let it come apart without a maximum amount of effort.

I like blue as it's less hassle to remove. Properly applyed red requires 600 degrees to release. Dave

I use red for critical parts, I'd consider converter bolts critical, save the blue for interior stuff or other non-critical things...

The bolts torque/stretch is really supposed to do the work of holding the components together, if you're relying on the Loctite to hold it together you gotta wonder why....I use loctite as a measure of insurance so blue should be sufficient on most bolts, I've seen more dampenerer bolts come loose than flywheel bolts but I'd sure never put red loctite on one....

I don't think I've ever seen blue come loose on a NEW bolt that had been PROPERLY cleaned, prepared and torqued to the right spec. Reused bolts are another matter that's why I don't reuse bolts in critical areas.

I use the red but I have forgotten to use anything
BUT I use my impact to tighten them.... I have had
1 bolt come loose over the years(before I started
using the impact on them)

That is stud and bearing mount, not really intended for nut's and bolt's.
