Helping a friend re-do his front end. His K frame isolators need to be replaced. Does anyone know where I can find these? Also, someone told me to replace them with a solid mount , has anyone done this. Pros and Cons of doing this.

Many thanks

solid mounts available around, also poly. Not rubber thought.

IF YOU ASK ME... poly... solid will be fine like earliers models but after ride a Dart without isolation and my car ( with RUBBER pices made in Venezuela ), I wouldn't replace the comfort of a rubber piece... POLY as much, but never solid.

thats just my opinion. Of course Caracas streets are a mess.

Rubber pieces also keeps a safer unibody.

( I am one of those who thinks that comfort and performance can be hand in hand, ESPECIALLY on streets even with a HOT street car... I would find the way to fit an A/C on an Hemi car... yes )

Rubber was available last time I checked at the dealer but it has been a few years. They were not cheap IIRC 3642851 and 3642852

as I told you, poly... make a search on suspension websites and you will find them. Not that hard

I bought the poly ones from just suspension several years ago. They work fine and are a bit cheaper than the solid mounts. If I had to do it again I would probably just go solid instead. Nothing wrong with the poly mounts though, just I would rather replace it with a non-wear item.

I just checked Just Suspension's website and I could not find them. I will try and call them tomorrow. However I did find the solid aluminum ones on Firm Feel's website for $198.

i would replace with solid. previous model years all had the k frame directly mounted to the front sub frame. no real reason not to do it this way on a 74

i put the solids in a 73 RR. No complaints. The ride doesnt really seem any harsher to me.

Check out this link at mancini, if I understand this right they show the poly version for 50 bucks.

I was sure I'd gotten my poly set from just suspension, but this was like 7 years ago. Could have been energy suspension or espo or maybe it even was mancini. I'll have to dig up the box which I know I still have.

http://www.suspension.com/moparcar.htm

several vendors and mostly sure several qualities and specs. I have seen them, but can't recall all the vendors

firmfeel.com mostly sure have them too in poly and solid

by the wear fact... if rubber parts got 30 years although maybe 20 were in really full good conditions, poly must be on 40-50 years life. I don't think is something to worry about

board member cudazappa sells billet aluminum ones (search the classifieds)

ESPO.com sells poly ones pretty reasonably priced (like $60/set)

CUDAZAPPA's solid isolators are the first ad, also shown are aluminum t-bar bushings

You probably wouldn`t see any wear on them in your lifetime.

Probably. After 6 years of daily driving the poly mounts still look like new. No regrets, I would just like to try the solid mounts in my car to feel if they'd make an ounce of difference over the poly mounts. Though mine's an original small block car with a front sway bar. I'm sure a big difference in front end rigidity there than a big block car with that huge cutout on the passenger inner fender.

I just bought a set of the solids from Gary (Cudazappa) and they are sweet. I have a volare and need them to stiffen up the front to make it leave better. These things are seriously nice.

Be aware of rust around the frame where the mounts go.
