Pulled the dipstick tube out of the block on my new motor today and there was no o-ring on it, and not really a groove for one. Has anybody heard of not using an o-ring on the tube? I can't say I have ever seen one like this.

it didn't just fall off did it? with no ring i'd imagine you'd have trans blood on your garage floor.

I am referring to the engine oil dipstick, not the trans. Sorry for the confusion.
