today i lost my dad. im 18, and just been getting into this. got into it from being around my dad all the time, working with him, and being around him.

my dad used to race a red and white 67 Barracuda. its the car in my signature and avatar.

i know some of you guys probably knew him, or his father.

WOW John - I'm very sorry to hear of this - your dad most definitely was way too young. One thing - your excitement and enthusiasm for getting the old car back on the track definitely comes through in your posts and questions. I'm sure he was excited by your joy for the project. Keep it going.

whats even worse, is i havent touched the barracuda in a couple months, in atleast a month seeing that my pos honda has broken down, i really need to get it back out, and find a nice sticker for the car so he can ride with me.

John: I lost my dad when I was 39 years old and trust me it isn't any easier. Dad's are so very special and the lessons we learn from them are never forgotten. Dam I feel for you!! lost my dad 4 years ago this fall was thinking about him today!!! He was a Mopar car nut too car shows but even in his seventies would leave the shows and lay rubber with a sqwak into second!! LOL!!!
He really loved the power of the old mopar muscle cars!!
Take care at eighteen I shed a couple tears for you for such a loss!
I was 54 and that left an empty spot.

I can't begin to imagine what your goining through. My dad and I do almost everthing together and I can't imagine what it would be like without him.

guys i cant thank you enough, im crying, but smiling haha.

telling everybody today was so bad, ive been up since 6, its 1:20, im beat, such a bad day. but, he is in a better place, hanging out with his dad, and my moms dad who owned Big Eds Speedshop.

John, I'm sorry for you're loss. He was only a few months younger than me. I lost my Dad when I was 19, it's a tough time. You will always remember the lessions he tought you, things that you didn't even think about at the time will come to you later. I'll keep you and you're family in my prayers . I am very sorry to hear this. My son and I have have been racing together for about 15 years and worry that if something happened to me, what would my family do. All I would want is for them to be happy and safe and doing what they enjoy, with as little hardships as possible on them. Hopefully I have taught them all I can, and they can discern what I was right or wrong about. Your Father just passed to a higher level but He can see and hear and enjoy your experiences,and there will be times when you do something,you will know He is right there, and you will smile. My father died in 86 and I still think of him daily, and I talk to him, and his memory always makes me smile. God Bless!

I lost my dad last year. Every weekend as far back as i can remember was spent with him at the track. Its tough. Getting the car back out to the track really helps. It is defintley what he would want you to do. I wish the best to you, and your family in these hard times.

i went by my work, hung out at the shop, talked with everyone, had some lunch, and did some more work on my honda motor for my car. went by where he worked, i hated seeing his toolbox locked up, and everything where he left it, and his bay empty...

i feel like im at home when im at the shop. i need to get to the race track next chance i can!

I am SORRY about your loss.
I also lost my dad early, I was 17 and he was involved in a train wreck, he was 43.
There is NO way anyone can prepare for the impact of loosing a parent early.

I am like you and am trying to keep his memory alive thru me and the cars we have and own.

I leaned upon a lot of friends and family to help get thru the hard times. And I do mean there will be some Hard Times.

Try and Remember all the Good times you spent with him and around him.

Take Care of yourself and any Family that may need your shoulder to cry on or an ear to talk too.
