Very sorry man, keeping the car up will help keep his memory, and I'm sure he'd be proud.

My dad passed away just over 20 years, it still hurts enough that I passed by your post a number times without reading. But now that I'm here and see you are 18, I can't begin to understand your pain. I will say that in the most positive way, you have not "lost" your Dad, you get keep his memories forever. Sounds like he was a good Dad.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I lost my dad when I was 8. I used to hang out in my dad's shop also in 1968. I remember when I had to use the little boy's room to piss. Don was always trying to get me to catch a charged condensor everytime or when I was cleaning parts in the solvent tank.

Being 18, you are a man now. Things change us for the rest of our lives. Being 49 now, I am grateful just to be around in his presence. I know your dad loved you, so be strong and carry his name proudly. Steve DeTar

You are at a very young age to experience this loss, but your posts here show a desire to honor your Dad, take care of the family, and carry on the Mopar tradition and passion that you and your Dad shared.

He must've been a great Dad, to have raised such a fine son. I know you'll miss him, but I'm sure you are making him proud right now.

I feel for you. I can only imagine the sorrow that you must feel. Makes me very thankful for how much time my dad still spends with me and this car.

John. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Stick close to your family, it helps the hurt during the day. They will apreciate you being around, too. Good luck man, Leigh.

I too lost my dad at a young age. It was over twenty five years ago and I still remember him like it was yesterday. I still find myself talking to him when I'm building something and things are not going right. It's seems like we are working on it together and he is helping me out.

Take care of yourself and my thoughts are with you.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

John I had what i always tell everyone the best dad a guy could have. We were a 100% mopar family. I lost him 28 yrs ago at my age of 26 and the older i get the more i miss him. He would take my mopars of the day to work with him if i needed something welded or something i couldn't do at home. I remember him taking my duster back then that i had built up and told all the guys he worked with that it would pass anything but a gas station .Made us all laugh, And in his hospital bed he let me borrow his wrist watch because mine had broke, and he asked me,, son don't lose my watch... To this day that watch is in my toolbox my buddies see and say You still have that watch? I tell them dad said not to lose it so it,s where i know it will always be. Im sorry about the long letter but this sure brought back memories. Hang in there and our prayers will be with you and your family.
