Anyone had any issues with the #7 cylinder tube, which is a slip tube, not clearing the torsion bar with the small block step 1 5/8" headers? What did you do? Everything fits like a glove except for this. The torsion bar is a 1" firm feel bar and the car is a 71 dart. I can't ding the tube because it's right at that slip connection.

The bigger bar is part of it--with the skinny Drag race bars they still just touch--I know..$700 bucks for headers that don't fit...can you say..HammerTime! Really ..with the pre 73 mounts you can "twist" the engine down on that side a little ( loosen both mounts and pull up on pass side of engine to shift it )but I had to hammer tune mine. Good luck!

yeah it's a spool mount k frame unfortunately, so the hammer is probably the only option I guess. just sucks. I guess they forgot to mention that the larger torsion bars could be an issue.

I have 1.04s and no issues. I was able to adjust the motor mounts so the tube is in between the t bar and the frame. Great fitting piece for me.

I'd call them and ask what they think you should do. For the money TTi charges their stuff should jump from the box and install itself. If you have to "ding it" what's the point. You can buy $200 headers for that. Good luck.

I think the TTI headers are a rip off. I used a set of TPIS headers on my 92 Vette they were the most expensive headers I ever bought at $750 but they went in in about 20 minutes so I thought I would never buy a cheap set of headers again because the TPIS headers were perfect. Well TTI taught me otherwise. They just give you enough info to get you to buy them and yes you to death the whole way. I told them everything I had on my motor and they said they would fit fine. Then during install I find out they don't work with head studs so I had to take them out and replace a couple head studs with bolts. They said they would work with an OEM starter yea right I had 3 mini starters here none of them would fit so I had to buy another mini starter for I think $200 and still had to bend one of the tubes so it wasn't sitting on the starter. All in all it took 2 day and about 10 phone calls to Sam at TTI to put the headers in. the last call I had with sam ended with if I have one more problem with these headers I am going to throw the thru your window what a joke. Then to top it all off I ordered the nickel plated headers because I hate the look of rusty headers I wiped the headers down with alchohol before fire up like they said and the damn things turned brown at first glance they look rusted I hope I can find something to clean them up with

I love my s/b tti's.
they fit perfectly and were installed in less than an hour.
did you measure where the engine sits in the bay first,as per instructions?

must be an a-body thing. I've never measured squat in any set of b-body headers I've installed..

For my money tti's are the best out there,my #7 tube touchs ever so slightly on the driverside torsion bar,but thats from launching it so hard at the track,no big deal still worth all the money i spent..and still look great after 3 seasons

i had a problem in my 74 satellite with their headers, when i ran a small block. the top two tubes had to be mashed almost flat for the header to fit. i sent the header back and they worked with me and sent me a custom header back. and yes for the money they should drop in like a glove. with a set of $200 hedmans i had to ding them and mash them in no less than 17 spots to get them into the car.

for the money nothing should hit. Close only counnts in horseshoes and handgrandes.
My $109 headers fit w/o a dent or a dimple.

think about it.what is more likely?

the headers are junk and all are built to different specs.

or the car is bent or the engine is not sitting in the optimal spot.

I had no idea a torsion bar could be "clearanced" with a hammer..

That was my case - had to give my .990 bars a little "tweaking" after I installed my 383 into my Duster.

Ya,and they probably hit every pothole, bump,or speed bump and have all kinds on dings and dents..while tti's sit nice and high hitting nothing and still looking new after 3 years, bet yours are all rusted..pay $109.00 4 times or $650.00 once and never need another header again..
