I thought the late model ones are still extrenally balanced just don't require the jumbo weight... Be the first to admit I don't know late model stuff that well but....

Mine was externally balanced when I got it, sure...

It isn't now.

I drilled some huge holes in the crank and JB Welded lead fishing weights in there myself

Don't knock it, this trick always won me the Pinewood Derby!

Yeah, that's another thing I remembered to do tonight. Before bolting the new flexplate to the crank I matched it to the torque converter boltholes and made a big ol' line with a permanent marker. My first 318 rebuild I had no idea the holes were slightly offset, so I had to have a buddy use a breaker bar on the damper bolt while I played a very slow and frustrating game of "Trial and error" wedged underneath the Duster.

If the torque converter has a drain plug & Mopars generally do.. You'll find there is a small hole (9/32ish) in the flex plate that lines up with the plug but I thinking 180 out.. It's been to long I can't say with certainty... Suffering from Part Timers...

Mine does not have a drain plug, I rotated the 318 crank with a socket and breaker bar looking for it (Out of the car this time. See hoist pics ) as I unbolted the flexplate.

My stocker in the 318/904 did, my MP unit does not.

I'd like to see pics of your solution for the bypass hose. me, I redrilled my heads to reuse my LA RPM air gap.

BTW, the smaller waterneck is on all '80-up small blocks, and IIRC is the same size as a chevy as well.

hi
I literally took like some Honda Civic 1" hose and cut it down. It looks crappy, but they don't have any bulk 1" hose where I am.

how'd you handle the 90 degree turn? or does the honda hose have a molded bend in it?

With the motor having 517k on it, I take it that the duster has been very reliable

The 360 swap is looking great so far!!

I'd like to know, too.

Currently I have a slightly kinked LA hose on there I'd like to not have to use.

Brian, snag me some detail shots and let me know what year/model part it was.

Well, I bought it at 238K and rebuilt the 318 at 250,000.

My second year in college, at about 258K I drove it through the Eel river. Made it across, miraculously. Not something I recommend doing or something I would do twice.

Can you insert a spring inside the bypass hose to keep it from collapsing, like the lower radiator hoses have?

Probably not.

I am considering using 2 short pieces of rubber hose and a whole mess of threaded plumbing fittings.

If you have some tubing you could make one of these on a smaller scale and just use rubber at each end.

http://www.hotrodscustomstuff.com/Cars/Road%20Tour%20Car/SR%20Guide/final-05.jpg

They do make 45 degree fittings for the intake, but I'm thinking the odds of getting it clocked in the right spot and tight enough at the same time aren't very good, plus it might look kinda half-arsed.

the other option is to cut 2 holes in the hood and use 12" of universal flex-hose.

I vote for this solution.

I'm sure the dimensions in the picture are wrong, but something like this in the intake may work.

Something like that would be perfect if I thought I had the clearance to thread it more than half a turn at best.
