Rewatching Alien for the umpteenth time. 1979 and it just blows away any of this CGI stuff (Avatar excluded)  The grit, dirt, darkness, dripping, cat's eyes, and Tom Skerrit getting jazz-hands to death! Brilliance.

Sharktopus aside - I can't think of anything in the last few years with equal qualities. Scott deserves every accolade he can get.  I didn't see it first run as I was 11 but my older sister did with my parents. In retrospect good idea.

The Thing in '82 cost $15m to make.. The Thing is '11 cost $38m to make.. The second one was pretty good, but not more than twice as good Oh, and Aliens was $18.5m I liked it better than Alien actually   And for comparison..Escape from NY was only $6m
