The Ghost of Dagoo Lake....
What is the history to that ?
-lake-23324/] Ghost page
It turns out that the word Dagoo minus one "o" is a banned word on Moparts even though in this case, it refers to the name of a lake in Alaska. So, your link will not work. Here is the text from that link:
...it went down in 1947 flying as part of the 10th Rescue Squadron Stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base. The Pilot reported engine failures and it made an emergency landing at [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] Lake in the Alaskan Peninsula. The crew had no injuries, the plane had some minor hull damage. They tried to repair the engines, however they had issues transporting the engine to the lake, and it was lost in the lake. They also tried to ferry it back, but that also didn't work, and ended up damaging some Noorduyn Norseman aircraft. The government finally sold the plane for a grand totally of $58.00 in 1948, most of the components were then sold for parts to Alaska Coastal Ellis Airlines. It then sat there until 1984 when it finally was returned to Anchorage, it was carried by a US Army CH-54 Skycrane helicopter. There have been discussion on repairing the restoring the PBY, but the price is very steep!!! It is estimated to cost $5,000,000,

Have you seen this NOVA documentary. Very very tragic and sad...
Is that the one that is up in Greenland/Ice Land they tried to bring up but couldn't as it was too squished and broke up when they did try?
The short story is that they tried to fly the parts up to the soft-crash site to make it flyable. They almost succeeded but when the plane was taxiing for takeoff a small fire started in a radio unit and they did not have a fire extinguisher handy. The plane burned to the ground.

Sir Tacohead.....
I know that you like military history.
I know that you like to travel.
Dig up what you can on PBY 64T & I can give you a tour of the wreckage in person - if you make it up here before my house sells & I move east.
There is a wreck of a Grumman Albatros on the same island, I have not made it there. Yet.
I'd tag along, but hate to think what Smiting would occur
Does sound real interesting though!

Thanks bud.
Believe me, if I can locate the slide of him from his Navy years in the hula skirt, I will post it.

What a shame after all that...
