Somethings wrong. My tunnel ram setup ran 9's in the 1/4 and would idle at 900-1000 all day.

I just fired the new engine this week (383 + .030, 4.25 stroke, Engle roller - 262 @ .050, 1.6 Harland Sharps, Herbert lifters and Herbert HERS637 springs).
Have idle set at 1200 due to people here and on speedtalk.com recommending higher idle to keep lifters' rollers lubed.
I could probably set the idle down to around 900 or so, but the convertor allows smooth engagement into gear at the present speed, and I don't want to 'learn something the hard (money) way'.
Right now I have to put smaller restricters in the heads, since the HS rockers allow all the oil to FLY out the rocker shafts...
Will be checking rollers periodically for a while to make sure they're hanging in there.
.02 and a bump...
