I was just wondering what PRM do you guys with roller motor idle at? Does it depends on the duration at 50? Is there a rpm that is to low and can hurt a camshaft and or lifters? I mean like under 1000 rpm

I idle @ 1200 , I have no oiling to the lifters so @ 1200 the stuff is getting wet, anything under 1000 it sounds like one cyl firing at a time

281/288 cam, 112 lobe center. I have it idle around 1200, it would idle lower but no need to.

I have idled my 518 at or under 900 RPM in gear with the Mopar brand roller lifters for over three years of street and strip racing, after breaking two of them(the wheels ) and calling Engle, (I thought the Mopar brand where being made by Engle) NOT. Mark Engle said to not let any non pressurized roller lifter idle less than 1300 RPM in gear and have it idle closer to 1500 rpm to ensure adequate splash oiling to the needles in the roller wheels It kind of makes sense I wil probally follow those guidelines from now on

That is the reason i was asking as i am getting my new motor straight also.My brother said he thinks it should idle around 1500 like cab_burge said so nothing gets hurt

My roller cammed blown hemi idles at 2200 RPM and I try to keep it above that during the burnout and staging to keep those plugs warm. My cam doesn't make power until 8800-9800 RPMs

A roller cam is less suspect to lack of lub because it's rolling on the lobes not sliding on them.

My 275-280 @ .050 Isky cam idles at about 1200 in park and around 950-1000 in gear and has seen thousands of street miles and many passes going on 4 1/2 years.

Mine seems happy around 1500-1600 RPM.

I called bullet cams today and they said a roller with 276/280@50 should idle at 1500 to 1550 to keep the plugs clean as one member said. Also under that rpm if you are trying to flash the converter the car will stumble.Very good customer service and didnt spend a dime with them, well at that time.two thumbs up to bullet racing

If your carb has the idle circuit set up correctly, the plugs will stay clean no matter what RPM
