Bubba, that SUCKS!!! Any idea how and WHY it came apart??? How many runs on the motor? I feel bad for ya! I guess Jeff had a bar on one of the roller lifters come unglued, wiping out a cam lobe! Metal everywhere! I was really looking forward to seeing his Dart run! Next year's another season! Best of luck,Todd! RandyB
That's ugly, Randy is that Bubba's piston or the guy "Jeff" you mentioned here?
Hope it's not Bubbas..................
I'd still like to see that big ole "Fairmont" run

did we figure out if this was bubba or someone else.. i saw that the mirader was on RJ as a roller for sale. i just lost my new 500 incher. a feel your pain. im on my 3rd motor this year. the first looks to have froze or the sleeve moved? the second was a prebuilt shortblock 500 incher, now i put the 1st back together with a new block.. this whole going fast thing really loses its luster when parts break. or catch fire
This is Bubba's... it happened on Saturday morning when he was doing a TnT pass next to Rick Ross, I was watching the pass and heard a pop but Bubba said it was doing alot more than that.... now I see why

Ouch!! What the heck happened? I think I see one spirolock in there that might still be good That's gotta hurt. Noticed the for sale ad for the car and trailer, hope it doesn't come to that. Stick with it Todd, you've come so far it'd be a shame to stop now!

That's weird. I was just looking at Bubba's car in an old Mopar Muscle last night, then I see this.

Great, Someone left one side of the spiral locks out of the piston. (I know guy that did this once, it came apart at 7800rpm with a big load of juice).

You don't have to leave one side out to do this.
If your pistons are setup for double locks all you have to do is leave one out. The pin will beat back and forth until it kicks the other one out.
I sent a piston and rod to the machine shop for bob weight measuring. They left one lock out. If it had not been for the ring rail the pin would have hit the cylinder wall. I had the engine apart for something else and caught the problem before really tearing a lot of parts up.
