ok i waited to long and the cam i was going to get is backordered so here it is

i need to have .490 give or take alittle .005 at the valve, no roller cams

i have a new set of hughes 1.6 roller rockers am planning on useing.

motor is a 499ci 440 stroker 12.73 to 1 on vp 95 oct
1 3/4 headers
factory 70 4 barrel intake with a holley 950 dp

would like to get a 3 bolt cam but 1 bolt will work

idle and vacuum is no factor

rpm range will be 4500-8000 so i need something that will pull as high as i can get it.
need to have this cam ordered and received in next few days to have it for first show sat.

any help would be great

let me see if i got this right, you want a cam that's approximately .495 lift at the vslve that'll pull from 4500 to 8000 rpm with a stock intake???
that's a tall order. i don't know of any cams like that.
or did you mean a .495 lobe???

no at the valve, my stock class rules read .490 lift at the valve.
the isky cam i was looking at was good to 6600 which would be alright, but is 3 weeks back ordered. what im saying is the higher the power ban the better.

Sorry I think your SOL on getting a custom cam made and shipped to you in just a few days.

You were using the .590 cam, so your running a different pulling class now that requires a max lift of .495

I dont know of any off the shelf cams that will do what you are looking for.

But if you had more time [And you Had it!] since you been working on this for a month or so. You could of ordered yourself a custom cam.

From your experience you probably know pretty much what you need.

If it were me I would guess that you need a custom cam with a .3093 lobe lift when using a 1.6 rocker and around a 275* duration with and 108 to 110 LS mike

Seems like the 1.6 rockers might work against you in this case .Sounds like you need lots of duration, which will be difficult to achieve without exceeding your lift requirement. A stock eliminator cam might work.

You want alot of RPM for those skinny headers, specially
with that amount of CI

What do you mean it turns what it turns!

I thought you were looking for a cam for the motor stated. What cam is in it now that makes it {turn what it turns}.

I thought you had No cam mike

i have a mp .484 hyd camshaft, which switching to adj rockers i must change something. and if im going all out i should push the rules to the edge. and what i meant when i say the motor turns what it turns is, i hook onto a 15,000 lbs sled, put it in first gear and dump the clutch at 4,000 rpms and hold the gas on the floor, when the tach stops climbing it turned what it turned. of course im out of my power band but find me a cam that is .490 lift with that power band, it is all about the wheel speed in my application. hehe is a video i have posted befor on the application

You may get somebody to grind the tops off of an existing profile. It's old school stock eliminator, but it works.

Find the fattest flat tappet on the shelf and have the tops cut and ship it. It's quicker than cutting the whole cam.

Try calling Jim at Racer Brown after 8pm Eastern. That's when he'll answer the phone. Great guy and great cams BTW.
