11" X 3" drums were used on both the front and rear depending on year/model.

Don't confuse different properties of materials which may or may not be advantageous in certain situations.
Aluminum has a high strength-to weight ratio, so is good for applications that need strength at a minimum weight penalty (aircraft fuselage, wings, etc.)
Aluminum has good heat TRANSFER properties, which make it good for automotive radiators.
Aluminum has nearly double (at approx. 900 Joules/Kg-deg K) the heat CAPACITY of iron (at 473 Joules/KG-deg K) by weight. But, at a little over half the density of iron, makes it slightly poorer as a store of heat than aluminum. By VOLUME, aluminum has a heat capacity of 2.43 Joules/cubic cm-deg K, versus 2.48 Joules/cubic cm-deg K, giving iron the slight advantage in heat storage per cubic centimeter.
In a brake application, heat builds up rapidly and dissipates slowly, therefore heat capacity is a more important property than heat transfer. That's why aircraft brakes are made from steel, stainless steel, carbon, and probably other materials also, but not aluminum.

I bought a complete set of 11x3 drums. I thought about putting them on my Duster. I was told it would be a bad thing to do with that small of a car. But maybe if I did Viper rotors on the front?
