The 440 I am building with Stealth heads and Lunati Cam is working out to be 10.7:1 static compression and 8.6:1 dynamic.

My quench is not ideal, its around .080". Anyone else pushing the limit on dynamic like this and still able to use pump gas?

Also, if I am plugging in the "intake valve closing angle" into the dynamic equation, is the number +15º of what the cam card says the intake closes at ABDC?

IMO, you're right on the edge; .040" quench and you'd probably be good with 93 octane. My numbers are real close to yours, but I've got bad air here and only 91 pump. I'm also still tuning, but I do currently run a 3/10 gal. race/pump mix just to be safe. I might be able to go with straight pump after I get it dialed in.

I believe +15* is to be added to the @.050" number.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here , although it's only 9:7.1 cr (605") quench is .100" & no problems running pump fuel , DC is around 8:5.1 , this motor is street driven & built around sniff.

Dish pistons with around .250" dish & no quench pad , 35* total spark lead , i know , it don't make sense.

My motor is a .030 over 440 with Indy SRs heads. It has a tight quench,.030. 11:1 compression. Pro systems carb,FBO dist 34 degress of timimg all in by 3200 RPMs. The inside of the intake the intake ports the tops of the pistons combustion cambers both valves and the exhaust ports have been thermocoated. 170 lbs of cylinder pressure. The car weights 3850 lbs 3.55 gears 2.77 1st gear. 28 inch tall tires and a tight converter. With 91 octane the motor is right on the edge. Oh 160 degree stat.

My 451" stroker with B-1 B/S heads was 11:1 compression. but no quench as the pistons were dished. I also ran a 160 thermostat.
Ran good on pump gas, but I think it was on the edge? Once on a 95+ degree day when the engine temps got around 200 degrees, it pinged a bit under full throttle. At the track I would run 1/4 tank of 110 octane race gas with 3/4 tank pump gas just to be safe.

Let me ask you guys, does the fact that I have dome piston help my .080" quench? Will the dome mask it at all?
