All I did with mine was gasket match the ports and blend into the runner, then I cut the divider down so only about .200" was remaining.
I also cut away the heat crossover underneath to save weight and installed a tin heat shield on the bottom to keep hot oil from splashing on the underside.
This was a 72 intake but you get the picture.
