It is not the sales I am worried about it is the price....Look at the increase from 2000 to 2005. I had a 2001 F350, then purchased a 2005 F350. Almost identical trucks with a sticker price difference of $10K. I have seen sticker price from my 05 Ford to this 10 Dodge of almost $10K again! We wanted to do the motorhome thing but with our uncertain near future not sure that is a good choice right now for sure.
To be honest wish I had kept the 2001. While it did not have the power the new truck does I have had some minor issues with the 05 as far as fit finish and durability of some of the interior pieces. I have had to spend a few hundres dollars already replacing or repairing cosmetics on this 05, from badges to seat upholstery.

Anything 6.7 out there built after Dec 08 has been pretty decent. ANY 6.7 truck that hasn't had the ECM updated since MARCH 09 needs to be. In my experience if the truck has been purchased to tow, and tow hard, they have been much more trouble free than those that get used like a "car".
The 68RFE trans.....six speed, manual shift feature right on the stalk. I've only talked with one guy that had a failure. Local company with 6 trucks. They tow 15-22k all the time. Broke a shaft in the trans and ruined it. Truck had 97K miles on it. The trans has been awesome...unless of course you like to make a living repairing them (glad Im not the tranny guy).
I really agree with J here. That is the one thing that is a great feature on these trucks. It works well with the "Jake" and is actually made here in Kokomo Indiana, Ma Mopar plant. Aison/Warner I believe..
Probably a better trans than the Allison..

2500/3500= 68rfe 6 speed auto trans 4500-5500= Aisen 6 speed auto trans.
Exhaust brake feature is built into the turbo itself. Merely uses the sliding nozzle to impede exhaust flow....and they do it well

Well I have been a Ford truck guy forever, only had one Dodge over the years and was pretty underwhelmed with it. You guys are not giving me a warm fuzzy this time either. I agree the Chevy's are nice pieces as we maintain a fleet with them in it,as well as the new Fords. I just cant stomach the Chevy price, initial and the resale end from what I have seen around here.
My curent 05 F350 is barely broken in but we are planning for the future now. We will be facing a BIG move in three years and I am at a crossroads on this deal. Maybe I can lay it out here and see what your opinions are. A little backround might help. We are facing a move in 2012, right now it looks like that move will either be to Italy or Germany. Obviously we will not be taking a 1 ton Dually to either place. So here are my options. I can keep what I have as there is nothing wrong with it. It is an 05 Powerstroke with only 60K on it, the bluebook is right at $25K now, only paid $32k for it. Willing to sell it for $22obo. Or I can keep it and sell in 2012 when we move, figure it will be worth maybe $10-12K then maybe. I can buy a new Dodge or maybe Ford now and kleep it til we return as it will be fairly new still as it is going to sit for the better part of three years. Or we can sell the one we have now in three years and go away and buy a truck upon our return. My fear of that is given what these things cost now I can only imagine what they will cost in 2015 Then again according to many phophecies we are all going to die in 2012 so maybe I should just not worry about it Dont even get me started on what to do with the race car and the other toys, anyone want to car sit for three years
Interested to hear what you guys think....
Al, please take this from the heart. Live for the moment. I used to plan out years in advance. The last 5 years have seen all my plans go away, without any viable options to stop them, short of low down, dirty protect yourself first actions. I now consider next week out to be a long shot, as far as projections. Good luck on whatever you decide is best.

There is some merit in those words.. no one knows what can happen tomorrow and if you want to slide into heaven sideways, sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind..

Jeep you know me, do I strike you as someone who does not live in the moment? I see someone has seen my facebook page too BTW how do you like your Ram? Leigh I understand what you are saying believe me. Being a vet, and married to an Active Duty Military wife, who is currently deployed in Iraq working in the operating room of a forward deployed base we know all to well how fleeting life can be. While we make plans for the future the wife and I do not look past the day right in front of us. One of the reasons we are gonna pull the trigger on this deal more than likely. We dont get caught up in worring about the future so much as to not enjoy the present. But I always keep an eye toward the horizon.

Yes Al, The truck is awesome buy it! Blah Blah Blah...
Now...Lets talk about where the racecar should spend those 3 years... My Buddy Darryl has an awesome 3 car garage/shop here in beautifull Phoenix, that has already served to carsit my Challenger, and a certain persons original 68 Hemi Cuda which has been dislayed all over the United States. He takes impeccable care of the vehicles left in his charge. Of course, for a small fee, I would be available to take the ole gal out and "Stretch her legs" every other weekend or so!! Whatcha think?? Not gonna get an offer like that every day!!
On a serious note...What about your son? He has to be at the age where some of the decision to go with his parents, or stay in the states will rest with him??

I bought a 2009 2500 series 6.7 litre CUMMINS DIESEL about a month ago.. It was 4500.00 off PLUS 1500.00 customer loyalty,, OR 1500.00 customer loyalty and 0.0% financing... FINANCING A $52,000.00 truck (47,000.00 financing) with 0.0% was an AWSOME DEAL... As far as the way the truck runs,,,, ABSOLUTELY AWSOME!!!! it pulls my racecar trailer like there was NOTHING hooked to it.. I used to have a hemi (2004) durango with a special ordered 3.92 differentials and it was HORRIBLE trying to pull that trailer!! I am taking it down south for a week,, I'll let you know if anything gives trouble.. Other than trying to BUCK YOU out of the seat when you hit a CHICAGO POTHOLE,, the truck is GREAT!!!

Looks like we are leaning more and more towards making the deal. Not sure if anyone has seen the new 2010 Mega Cab dually but here it is. It has kind of a Tonka Toy look to it, just needs bigger wheels and tires. What do you think?
I have had 0 issues with mine and it is a 6.7 but I drive the piss out of it.Trust me when I say it gets driven like it was in a heist . I also am waiting for them to come out so I can trade mine in for a 2010 dually.
