I would strap on a set of Indy EZ's with a solid roller spec'd out and head work done by Nick at Compu-Flow If you don't mind the extra oil lines go with the 440-1's Gus

Lets back into this question. What is telling you that you need 800HP, and what kind of car, what class, and what do you already have? Is there a cubic inch limit, and is this a stock block or aftermarket? How many runs a year does it need to make? Any cam limitiations, chassis limitations etc? What kind of budget are you on?
Most importantly, aside form the 800HP figure, what kind of results do you need/expect out of the combination?

currently we are 700 hp range and 600 lbs torq with factory stroke and 452 heads and we hit the limit now looking to go bigger.
i just cant seem to figure out a combo that can produce these figures.
And I can't figure out how you're making those numbers with that combo and 452 heads. Do tell...

want to see some opinions on builds for a 440. Looking to get to 750-800 hp and 700 ft lbs of torq
no power adders what so ever. must be racing fuel and not alky. single carb only and no fuel injection. must still be able to use internal oiling system.
currently we are 700 hp range and 600 lbs torq with factory stroke and 452 heads and we hit the limit now looking to go bigger. would need the power range around 6-7k rpms.
would like to stay away from the exotic heads such as brodixs and such.
i just cant seem to figure out a combo that can produce these figures.
i think you might be over estimating your current HP and torque. if your looking to build an entire new combo, that's one thing, but a good set of heads ( 440-1 or victor) and cam will help actually get to the 750+ HP mark. with the stock stroke you probably won't break the 700 ft. lb mark though. the rpm range of the motor will go up considerably. if your going to build a stroker combo, that's another matter altogether.

well lets see 13 to 1 comp pistons that stick .100 out of top of block. running .040 piston to head clearance. harland sharp 1.6 rockers, mp .590 cam 2 in upright headers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBvqzklNMiI

499, 13.2.comp, solid roller, 1050 dom, 440-1s, went 145+ @3280#, footbrake, leafs, 9in 4800 conv, 4.56 gear, 31in tall tire, in the mid 90s.
Drove it on the street, for almost 4 years without touching the motor except a couple Indy rockers and a set of valve springs.
