I wish Big all the best, but can't help but feel there are many, many, more qualified Mopar Sportsman racers much more deserving of that car.
i'm curious why you feel that way. with all of the things "Big" has done for the sport of drag racing throught his career, and all that he's given back to to the fans as well as various charities, i can't think of anyone that deserves it more.

Still not quite sure about that scoop, and they look kind of funny to me with the smaller slicks on them. Like there is no room for the tire to fit under the car. Sure would like to see a SS Challenger with some 32*14's and a full back-half, I bet that would look .

But with Big Daddy, Mopar will get to milk the press with a household (to a degree) name. I also have my doubts that 'Big' will really be heading for the lanes at national or divisonal events when the call comes for stock (or super stock?) I feel this is going to be a promotional only deal.

Myron Pietek (sic) I heard is doing one. X champ, should race a lot.
Unfortunately, that's not true. I'd have to win the lottery! Another Dart Sport project I started several years ago still has a long way to go.

You get my vote any way. Quick reply, I didn't even get the edit done!

There is another drag pack that went out and won its first race, his name escapes me right now though. I am sure someone here will know..
Doug Duell has done very well in his Challenger, but it is not a drag pack. It is an awsome car that was built over the winter from a stock 6 cly. Challenger.

It'll probably be the slowest car Big Daddy has driven since the 1950's!
Probably the slowest Mopar race car he's had, As far as I know the last non-mopar rail he had was running low 13's with a flathead ford and his street car was quicker, it was a 39-40 ford with an early hemi.

I'd rather see him in that Challenger than getting back in a fuel car. The challey is fast enough for him at his age...what is he like 79 or something?

Yeah around there- my old machinist is 75 and a few years younger than Garlits.

So my friend calls me this morning from Carlisle. He is there with his twin sons (6 or 7 years i think)and they see the Garlits car with him there. Anyways, his one son has mild autism (which makes his mind work in ways no one can understand--quite brilliantly actually), and can be a riot sometimes by just being himself and not knowing it---this was one of those times.... My friends son Chris "hey, nice car" Garlits "thank you" Chris "smells to new---you drag race?" Garlits "yes, i drag race"--now looking a bit bewildered Chris --now looking at the car shaking his head back and forth , " well, it just looks to new " and walks off. My friend had all he could do to burst out laughing. I know i did when he called and told me Garlits Super stock Challenger $100k Trip to carlisle $1k Little kid poking fun at Garlits unknowingly--priceless
Outcast Dodge guy.
