Most sure grip mfg's ( Auburn for sure ) do not recommend using synthetics. I use 80-90 gear lube and about 1/2 the recommended amount of friction modifier.

THe Ford Friction modifier is hard to beat. ITs the same formula as that of the good ol 'days. Mix it with any GL-5 gear lube you like.
I agree and it's dino. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

Pac is GL-5 dino or synthetic?
GL-5 can be either. The -5 refers for an extreme pressure specification that rears need (the amount of pressure, per square inch on the contact patch of the pinion/ring, under load, is tremendous)
MOST all gear lube IS GL-5, the difficulty is finding a good selection of GL-4 for our manual trannys (the selection is few). Not a problem for diffs~
