I did with the Hoosier QTP tires I was running. They were 29 x 11.5 and they were about 1/4" away from the leaf springs. On turns they rubbed alot. I even had a guy tell me smoke was coming from the rear of my car on a highway ramp. Going straight was ok but I do alot of street driving so I had to change them as they rubbed to much. Right now I am using the Hoosier 30 x 9 radial slick and it has a good inch of room with no problems. Ron

If you can stick your hand in between the tire and the spring or the fender you should be good.

I dunno about that!
Before I inboarded the springs, I had a little under 1/4" clearance between the tire and the leaf spring.
Basically, it cleared....as long as the car went dead straight. Any getting out of the groove and having the car go squirrelly and they would hit...and pretty good at that!!
I'd shoot for 3/8" minimum...and maybe a 1/2" as previously suggested.
If you can, pick up a quality 1/4" wheel spacer kit (I said QUALITY....no cast aluminum crap).
Just check your wheel stud length.

By the look of your line up of cars, I presume you're talking about an early B-body. I had the same issues as you have but I did not want to go to a smaller side wall tire because I need every thing I can get on the ground patch.
So what was my remedy? Doctor Diffs bolt on inboard kit. High quality made kit by the Doctor himself. The only welding needed was the spring perches needing to move in only a half inch or so and this whole set up gave me the 1" clearance on each side.

I've seen lots of cars, and even 1 ton trucks run with only 1/8" clearance. Drive type stuff.

That said, a high hp car, may twist them up enough to cause an issue.

You'll find out fairly quickly

Radials deflect alot less than those bias ply QTPs

I've yet to have issue on my MT drag radials but I was rubbing both ways on my QTPs...68 dart stock wheel wells don't give a whole lot between the leaf and outer well
