Don't know if the cam bolt came loose, or maybe the crank key let go.....I can't get the balancer off....Man it's tight! Anyways....a pile of bent valves on the left bank so far with #1 intake the worst along with a well bent pushrod. I'll get the right head off tonite...I suspect by the loose rockers that there'll be a few bent valves on that side too. One good thing anyways.....at least I had gotten thru the burnout and had throttled back when it died. I can't imagine the consequesences on a 6500 rpm shift!!! I'm gonna take some heat to the balancer and try to move it. It's a fluid one, so I'll possibly be looking for another one knowing my luck.

Bingo!!! The cam gear sheared off the dowel on the cam. I've got 9 bent valves and some hickeys on the pistons but nothing major. At least no holes!!! That'll teach me not to use a one bolt cam any more!! No pics...the camera somehow got put away so it wouldn't get lost. Now to start sourcing out some parts.

Well I'll tell ya...I NEED some luck as of lately. Everything I touch either breaks, screws up or flat out don't work!! I decided to go back out to the shop tonite just to peruse the situation a little more and found something else I don't like..... #3 cam bearing seems to have worked it's way about 1/4" forward in the bore, and rotated about 180* so the oil hole is basically at the top of the bore. I know that can't be right as all the other bearings have the holes lined up at the bottoms. What in the hell woulda caused that? Looks like the whole things coming out now!! And I wanted to go fishing..... Don't worry...I'll get this thing back together in time for Pinks. That's a promise I'm keeping.

I got in but I'm having surgery on July 24th and looks like I need a driver for my car. I emailed the folks at Pinks to see if I can use a substitute driver.
Please let us know what they say.. I'm thinking they will say you're SOL as they told me they are cracking down on this type of stuff...

One good thing anyways.....I got the "New" engine in the car and am just waiting on pushrods. They should be here tomorrow, then I can button it up and break it in. New cam, valves, bearings and some head work as well. That cam spinning out did a number on things. I hope to make a race on Sunday if my ducks all line up!! There's going to be a lot of little adjustments like jets etc, so I'm going to be a busy boy between qualifying rounds.
