Nice pics Snoopy! Here's a couple to go with them for NachoRT74

70 E body on the left, 71-74 E body on the right.
The change over was in 71 whenever the assembly line ran out of the older style.

But if E bodies doesn't have cornering lamps should use 3488804... right ?

I believe that's right. I've taken apart several E body columns, and haven't found one of those cornering light switches yet.

If you needed to though, you could probably use it and tape them out of the way like Snoopy said.

I think the cornering light switches were C body right?

yes, defintelly that is!!!

I was aware about that diff on B body models since secodn 71 half production, but I though E bodies were the same, specially being all were same years setups and same PUSH IN selection to LIGHT ON hazzards like on B bodies.

Why would use two diff switches on B and E bodies benig same design and size ?

Yes C bodies.

Now, maybe the replacement 3488805 part maybe is being made to get a generic part to everything, and simply don't using the parts not needing. No need to remake two diff parts ( 04 and 05 ) for that.

However I don't like those NEW 3488805 BEING MADE, without the roller on horn switch.

Snoopy, since you posted those pics.

DID YOU FIND SOME DIFF BETWEEN 3488805 AND 3488477 SWITCHES ? I find on pics they are the same

except for flasher or hazzard words casted and arrow.

My 04 switch turns on PULLING OUT the knob ( NOS, not a replacement )

I haven't looked at them under a magnifying glass, but one obvious difference is in the wording on the knob.
3488805 - Hazard
3488477 - Flasher

The shaft diameter of the knob is the same. I've taken a 70 style knob from a broken switch, and put it on a good 71 switch by drilling out the rivets and replacing them with tiny screws with nuts.

Works good.

3488805 is that the correct one for a 71 RR with a early build date? I'm going to need one for my car soon. No tilt BTW. Anyone know where to get one?
Thanks

Chryco Psyco said Standard part # TW7 would work and it cost $30 versus the over $100 some want. Now this was a year ago so hard telling what the cost is now.

thast what I said, thats the only diff I can note... but maybe the ON position it could be a diff ? dunno... I'm telling that just for the arrow pointing out.

--------------

cataclysm80... I have parted out some switches too for internal parts. Inner tabs are the pieces that commonly get damage. In fact a damaged switch can be fixed, opening and bending the tabs, then clening contacts and assmbly again with tiny machined scres and nuts OR, using a wire solder to melt down the plastic studs. I'm thinking on that to fix My buddy's 70 Charger, beingg that I haven't able to find the right switch around.

----------------

71rm23... yes, as stated by 472 R/T SE, you can find aftermarket pieces cheaper than pentastar pieces that works the same, just some diff colored wires and plastic parts. REALY REALLY if you ask me the correct Pentastar part will be the 3488804 unit, since thats is the one without conrering lamps, BUT is not available as new Mopar replacement parts, just NOS. So 3488805 ( if not aftermarket TW7 ) will be a replacement part, but without use the cornering harness.

I was able to get 2 NOS 3488804 switches in less than $30, one of them never arrived ( thats was the reason to get the second one )

Thanks Nacho. Sorry if I'm not clear on one thing..Are you talking about the front side marker lights in refering to "conering lights"
Thanks again

The cornering lights are on C-Bodies and Imperials only. The are on the front only and they do not blink, they just supply additional lighting when you turn.

I know this is an old thread but I need some guidance.

I bought a MOPAR Turn signal Switch (part number on the box is 1-04293103) that was supposed to be for a 70 Challenger over a year ago. I'm just now doing the rebuild on the column and notice that the hazard button is larger as some of you mentioned before. The connector is correct. So, are you guys saying that I need to swap my old hazard button to this new switch or is there a new switch out of the box that has the correct narrower hazard button for a 70 Challenger?

Thanks, Joe

I've used one of those $30 aftermkt switches, the turn signal cancelling cam lever broke in less than a week.
I'll stick with New Mopar as long as I can get them.
