A friend does not want to re-build his hemi in his 56 Chrysler and want to swap it out. Will any modern motors fit with a swap kit. Does anyone make a swap kit for something like this ?? Thanks.

The Chrysler Hemi is a relation to the A and LA motors so those would likely be the best fit, but then the new Hemi's are related to the LA engines, so you could close the circle and put a new Hemi in to replace that old Whale engine.

Nothing is gonna be a easy drop in replacement other than another old Hemi but the enignes I mention aren't too bad.

This could get to be a interesting swap as no modern engine's crankshaft will bolt to his cast iron PowerFlite or TorqueFlite tranny. If you change trannys the push buttons won't work and you lose your parking brake, etc, etc. Time for some planning.

You can use the later TF with posh button. If you find a 62 I know they have the park brake on the trans,My kids is sitting in the garage from his 62 300.Later years had the park pawl in the push button trannys.Rocky

I believe Imperial Services makes a setup to allow a modern Torqueflite to work with the older pushbutton setup. Not sure if a 56 is one of them though, google is your friend.

As already mentioned, there is more to this than just the engine. That said, the LA is pretty much able to be bolted to the enginr mounts. If an OE-ish trans is not used then the rear is likely going to require changing to a later unit. If he wants to keep the original rear, then the best bet (IMHO) is to go to an AAJ Brakes rear disc kit with e-brake. Bolts right to the original stuff. I danced with the idea, some time ago, of an electronically controlled valve boy activated by the original buttons in the pushbutton control. I have NO idea how feasible it was, though...
