stock location, it would hit the shield hard before it would come even close to bolting to the bell housing, a little tweeking and I got it to work, I don't think they clearance the shield enough or a big enough cut out for a tube at time's.
I must of got the one good shield they cut right,as all I had to do was to bend the tab at the end of the tube and attach it where its suppose to be.Hope mine recerts so I dont have get one that doesnt fit.That bites

i find it strange you had a problem getting fluid into a Lokar dipstick tube. are you using the adaptor that comes with the tube? i fitted my adaptor onto a small funnel & it stays in place by itself & since the adaptor is clear you can be sure all the fluid is gone before removing so you don't send white smoke signals to the indians. & since the tube is flexible i have it away from the headers & nowhere near the the pinchweld on the firewall so it's easy access. true you cannot read the dipstick just after filling up but hey, wait a minute & she's all good. was talking to a racer buddy last nite about this post & he has fitted a flexitube too & swears it's the best invention out for 727's & header clearence. i kinda thinking you're doing something wrong. And no i don't work for Lokar.

common problem ive seen on cars ive wrenched on is they do not put the rubber seal in the trans hole first then lube the dip stick and slide it in, they have tryed to install the dip stick with the seal on the tube and it doesnt want to seat in all the way into the trans hole and leak.
That might've done the trick, Bob. Somehow the seal had moved up the tube a bit and was stuck on the flange, probably from the first time a few years back that I installed it....I remember fighting with it trying to get it in (with the seal on the tube) and I remember fighting with it to get it far enough into the trans to get it to bolt to the block. Probably pushed the seal up the tube when I was doing that and never noticed.
So I got the seal off the tube and put it in the trans first and tube just slipped in like nothing. Bolted it to the block and it looks ok so far. We're gonna be starting this mill up tomorrow with the new cam and we'll see if it leaks or not..  Thanks!
