I have a four wheel disc master cylinder I am thinking of trying to install on the Duster. I am running disc front/drum rear. Do I need a residual valve for the rear? I will mount in the stock location.

Only if you don't want to pump the brakes once or twice before it will stop correctly the residual valve helps prevent the drum brakes return springs from pulling the rear shoes all the way in so the rear cylinders are collasped or completely bottom out

>> In the mid-1970s, Chrysler eliminated the rear brake residual pressure valve from the master cylinder. Its function was to prevent any air from sneaking into the system via the rear wheel cylinder cups. In its place, Chrysler substituted "expanders" in the rear wheel cylinders. (Expanders are dish-shaped steel inserts that exert outward pressure on the cups.) If you should decide to use a master cylinder from a 1975-up car, be sure you have the expanders in your rear wheel cylinders. For at least 20 years they have been universal in all replacement wheel cylinders and rebuild kits.

This is from a Mopar Action tech article. My car is a '75. Does anyone have a picture of what these would look like (expander vs. nonexpander)?

Most of the cars that have drum and disc mixed use a 2 lb on the disc and a 10 lb on the drums. I found that out from Wilwood when plumbing one of my cars with disc on all four corners

does the residual valve have to be mounted on the MC or can it be mounted anywhere in the line?

T he car i'm building is a old 1940 sedan with the master cylinder ubder the floor, if the master cylinder wasn't under the floor I wouldn't use them. The residual valves will keep the brake fluid from draing out of the brake cylinders and overfilling the master cylinder, both of them are in line with the brake lines under the floor coming out of the lines from master cylinder Wilwwod sells them with the fitting, you will need a doulble flairing tool also
