Wondering what would be the best liquid to pour into the valley to wash an engine out, still havent found the broken end of my rocker adjuster and i am in hopes I can flush it toward the drain plug and be able to pick it out with a magnet so I don't have to go thru the agony of pulling the pan, if that don't work then the alternative is to drop it and hope it's there.

With a strong magnet you should be able to drag it across the bottom of the pan toward the drain hole and if the broken adjuster is in the pan you'll have it.

do you need to flush in the valley or is the intake off?i would say use karosene,a funnel to direct the flow, only pour 1/2 gallon at a time to help direct the piece to the drain.thay sell some strong magnets at Marc's[discount store]i have been able to pickup a steel main cap with it.it is the size of a dime and on a tellescoping antenna.i hope this gives you soome ideas.

Yes the intake is off,,,I am running a Moroso deep pan and I am afraid the piece is sitting on a baffle, I have used a welding magnet which is pretty strong, to no avail so far, just trying to do everything possible before I have to tear the pan off, It's not a big deal really, all I have to remove the cross link for the steering and the pan will drop straight down.

Mike, not sure what he is afraid of but while we were at Columbus we had quite a few guys there that offered to flip it over and shake it out but he said he would wait until he got home

I'm assuming your running a windage tray... Chances are it's sitting on the tray...

No windage tray but it has a Hughes main cap girdle,it could be on that somewhere, it probably went down by the cam gear and landed on the raised part of the rear of the pan and in front of that area is a baffle, the center holes/slots have a cover on them, I did notice that the small drain back hole's are not covered, guess I need to get out the epoxy and screen wire.

Mike I tried what you said but I could not get the engine hoist to go up high enough!

Might be able to use a long-tip blowgun to blow it around, at least you'd be able to hear it moving, maybe.

Parts I seek: driver doorpanel, 65 Sport Fury, prefer black, needs to be 7-8 on 10 scale, might buy set 16" x 6" Dodge truck wheel(s), from early 70s?, takes 9" dogdish - need for a research job so cheaper is better. 69-73 C-body caliper brackets and/or splashields Send a PM.

ended up dropping the pan and found it sitting on the baffle just like I figured.
