I don't remember the year of the tragic incident that took Gary's life while on duty, but I typically remember it because it's very close to my birthday -- RIP angel

No doubt. I remember all the posts that morning the news broke. Tragic. He was a cool guy. Is a Moparts member still the caretaker of the car? Did his wife keep it with the help of a member? That part I don't recall.

2004. Twenty years ago. One week after I started working for Mercedes.

Hard to believe it has been 20 years. Moparts was much different back then...

Very sad event. He would be 56 today. I believe that he had two sons who now would be in their early 20s?

Great guy!... I met him in 2002 at the track I worked at (Ubly Dragway)...
He brought his Challenger to the annual "Mopar's Against the World" race, that year.
I was shocked, when I heard the news of his death. R I.P. Gary. angel

RIP, Gary. I’m still bummed I missed the funeral. He inspected the vin on my Charger, one letter was off on the title and he signed off on it not being stolen and got me the paperwork to fix it. We also went for a ride in the 300 I had, and I saw him multiple times at the parties here in Detroit. Just an overall good dude, lost way too soon.

Gary didn't have any kids. A few of us had asked him if there were any plans for kids, and he joked about "dunno, must be shooting blanks".

I was honored to take up a collection on the general board and run a bouquet of flowers/card from Moparts membership over to Nicole.
It was a nice gesture and many folks chipped in as I'd expect/maybe a few are on this thread.

I held up pretty well for most of the funeral, and I thought I was a pretty tough guy until the very end of the service when Gary's Challenger Fired up...
The sound of that 440 was, to me, the emotional peak of the service and the tears came suddenly and hard.

I should look into having the 180 badge shaped decals reproduced.
don't know if anyone else would like one but I have intended to have some them made for awhile.

I think I still have one that didn't find it's way onto one of my cars if you need one to go off.

Thanks!
After I broke my quarter window Dean gave me a couple (now I just have to remember where I put them).

If I can't find them I'll hit you up.

Think that was the year there was a big Moparts party over by Gary’s house. I stayed that night with Gary, then we went to that event the next morning at Ubly.
What a super guy.
We had a ton of friendly big block vs small block banter on here back in those days.
Miss him a lot.

Zippy .If you get some more decals reproduced, please let me know, and send me a PM, I would like to
have a couple. I used to have one on my old Duster, but sold that car quite a few years ago.
