Ford guys seem to have some level admiration or respect for the older Mopar stuff.

GM guys rarely seem to like Mopars, new or old, in general, but even some of the hardcore ones will admit the 68-70 Chargers are nice looking cars. Way to make a GM guy get upset is when their expensive 454/502 powered whatever mobile gets beat by a low budget 340 Duster or Dart.

For a long time many Mopar guys had Mustangs as daily drivers back when Chrysler didn't really have anything to buy so there are people who own both Chrysler and Ford stuff at the same time each for different reasons.

I was that guy that went Ford. My 73 Duster 340 was my daily driver from 1978 till 1987 when it suffered a frame crack up by the upper control arm. At the time Mopar didn’t make anything similar and I wanted something new so I went with a 87 Mustang LX 5.0.

I ended up repairing my Duster and always had an old Mopar around but did not go back to Mopar as a daily driver till I got my 09 Challenger.

Modern Mopar doesn't have anything I want to buy, but then I don't intend to ever buy a new vehicle at this stage in my life. It would be pretty hard to sway someone away from what they think is the best ride going to convert to a company that is under new ownership every few years.

Back in the old days, most guys that worked on their own stuff loved the strange perks their brand had and really disliked the perks the other brands had. Every brand had its own strange perks.
I was one of those guys that told people to find a brand that worked well for them. Then if or when it quit working for them, to look for a different brand. I had very good luck with Mopars, and everyone that knew me knew which brand I favored. Still Mopars here, but the newest ride here is an 04 model year, and any replacement won't be much newer.

my best friend is a die hard GM guy.
however, he uses me to obtain parts all the time, as he is a couple years older, and i use my junkyard ownership skills to sift through the myriad of good, bad, and chinesium parts out there these days.
what i enjoy most, is my ball bustin' quote that it "takes a MOPAR guy to keep a GM guy's junk running !" laugh2

I've owned Mopars, Mercury's, Fords, and Chevy's. I love all the old stuff. Just added a Tacoma for a daily driver but I/m keeping the old Dakota, for a while. Variety is the spice of life. wave

I never try to convince anyone which brand is better. I've turned wrenches my whole life....trust me, they ALL have issues. Currently have 2 Ford dds, an 18 Mustang GT convert and my stroked BB, 4spd, B'cuda. We had a 72 Olds Cutlass Supreme convert before the Mustang. Wife didn't care to drive it so off it went and we bought the GT. Car is fast, fun, comfortable and the top goes down....what's not to like? We are leaving on an 8 hr road trip with it in a couple weeks. It has been on multiple road trips....would have never done that with the Olds. If I want something a bit more unrefined I hop in the B'cuda grin drive
