Hello all. Power Brake Booster Exchange (Lynnwood, WA) "rebuilt" my booster Dec '22. It really improved things after I reinstalled it. Since reinstalling it I have yet to actually drive the car again after the initial test drive. I have started the car MANY times since then, running it up and down the driveway with the brakes seemingly still OK. This morning I started it up after a couple of months sitting and... no power brakes. I have plenty of vacuum at the check valve and the valve is good. Who has had experience with Power Brake Booster Exchange, good or bad. I have just emailed them for options. Is there another, more trusted service out there? I just sent the note to them and it is Sunday so they haven't had a chance to respond. I just want to get ahead of this and not just send this thing back and forth. Thanks!

Fluid level good, no leaks in lines/calipers/wheel cylinders?

With engine running, pedal feels like power brakes with the engine off. No leaks. Just went through the calipers not too long ago. No reason to believe the wheel cylinders froze up sitting for 2 months… but never say never. Master cylinder full.

With the engine off, can you feel a slight free play in the pedal before it meets resistance? If not, check this.

If that is the former “Booster Dewey “ company, I had a Freind that sent his dual diaphragm Bendix to them and it never worked right when he got it back. He sent it to another place on the east coast that rebuilds them and they repaired it and said they did not do a good job rebuilding it.

Harmon Classic Brakes does booster rebuilds. In Georgia maybe? Haven't had anything done by them, so don't know what their work is like.

what booster do you have ?
the booster on my charger was for 4 wheel drums, and you could take it apart by removing a band that clamped the two halves together.
i found a plastic part inside was broken. to fix it, i got the same booster [not sure if it's the midland-ross or bendix booster that comes apart like that] from a '73 dart that had disc brakes, that the guy wanted replaced "just because".
took it apart, the plastic piece was ok, so i installed it in my booster, and all is well on my charger now.
plus, i got a very good diaphragm and other internal parts to put on the shelf in case i may need them in the future.
just tossing this out there in case it may be of help to someone.
expressing my personal experience with this type of booster only. your mileage will vary.
