Could use some photos of '69 RR rad support blackout. Also, which body colors did NOT get the blackout ??

My '68-'70 B-bodies are & have been all about the same, but here's a couple of a 17,000-mile original-paint car.
Basically, a flattish black nearly always below the upper yoke, that covers the rad support sides and the inner portions of the forward fender aprons.
Black cars didn't need it and there's some debate/variations on the darkest blues & greens, but my original F8 '69 RR had the blackout (St. Louis car).
Variations could be due to a crabby line worker, I suppose...
Lower tie bar also got the blackout - apparently sprayed at an approx 45-degree angle from under the car.
Krylon's Satin Black is a good match if you opt for rattle-can.

I wasn't sure if the bottom crossmember got it or not I'm not terribly concerned about 100% originality (obviously) but don't want to see body color behind the grill.

That would have been a big error from the factory. Error's happen.

If someone does not have original paint on the radiator support, then they are left to go put blackout on those colors that were suppose to get them.

IMHO, even if it's a full custom car, blackout looks better. It's just a poor visual to see a color behind a grille. Same for wheel wells.

Have a friend with a Ralleye Green A12 RR. He didn't do the blackout when he restored it. I don't think it had blackout on it before he restored it, but would have to go through his pics to see. It was repainted once in the 70's I think, but was just an exterior paint job. Doubt they would have sprayed behind the grill back then, but never know.

it was common around here "back in the day" to paint the wheel wells, the gas tank, and all of the suspension parts you could see with white rustoleum.
i did my charger that way, and it still retains that today for the most part. [except for the places that have fallen off in big chunks. biggrin]
as i replaced the gas tank with a stainless one, i won't put any paint on it.
at my age, i'm just going to continue to beat the car until i croak, and the next caretaker can "restore" it. laugh2

The white undercarriage was a Junior Stocker deal way back - made it a lot easier to see what you were working on in between rounds or at the motel parking lot.
Some guys also did that to their street cars in SoCal back in the day.
