My permacool fan(that only draws about 5/6 amps)is kinda beat up from coming loose doing wheelstands over the years

Anyhow, i have stock factory alternator(70 Duster)and stock wiring harness.

I have a digital 6, holley volumax 250 pump, trans brake(not using it currently)and an electric water pump.

Anybody see any problems upgrading to the HHR fan? I am unaware of what its current demands are, but it seems like a super upgrade if i can get away with it

TIA

bump 4 ya Don

I'll add: Is the HHR fan a single speed or 2 speed?

The HHR is single speed and it moves some serious air. Fits a 22" rad. perfect. With my small 60 amp alt. and under drive pully it has a hard time keeping up at idle when I have on my WP, fuel pump and fan. But above about 1200 rpms the volt gauge kicks back up to 13 volts.

I have stock wiring and stock alternator..that was what i was wondering, would it cause me problems with juice..i would intend to put a relay across it and run it off my existing toggle switch

I have had no problems with my existing permacool, but it doesnt move much air and is an "open" fan with no shroud. It upside is that it only draws 4 or 5 amps. Just trying to get ready for Pinks and possibly back to back passes and want to stay cool

Not sure the amp rating on a stock alt. but shouldn't be any lower than my 60 amp. As long as your using a relay shouldn't be a problem with the wiring. I pulled my hot wire from the post on the starter relay with a switch on the trigger wire to the relay. The shroud on these really helps.

ill add that i was able to race 2 days with my permacool fan with out having any battery issues but with the hhr fan i need to charge the battery some or ill have issues on the second day. my battery cant keep up with the between rounds cooling for more than 1 day with out getting charged. i bought a generator last weekend to solve this problem.
