We got this at a swap meet about 20 years ago and I have no idea what it is. I believe we were told it was for a B-body by some dude on Reddit, however not really an authority. In any case I need to know what it is so I can sell it to someone who needs it and get it out of my garage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is another data plate screwed to the front but I cant really read it other than it starts with a 7.

Castings numbers , which you posted mostly aren't really good for identifying a trans other than platform specific pieces as all the maincases will have the same number .

But that said the one where I can somewhat see the tailhousing and it's a 69 down B body tail housing , is it a 23 spline or 18 spline input shaft ?

8 31 67 is the CASTING date , there are no plates screwed to the castings , what you see as screws are the identifiers screwed into the mold itself.

is there a flat machined pad on the right side of the trans ? Need to see what casting number is on the bearing retainer , the casting date points to a 68 model year trans.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is an 18 spline input shaft. I am not seeing a flat machined plate on the right side of the trans. I did find some more cast numbers on the bottom of the trans: There is a C-96707J and what looks like E3 then below that C-87622 on the output side. There is also grease pencil writing on the side that says Cornet Rebuilt, but I don't really trust whatever was written on there 20 years ago at a swap meet. Thank you so much for the help.

The flat machined pad is infront of the fill plug in your picture.

Just think about how many donuts that thing has cut....

Well , what is stamped on it , that is the pertinent information?

Picture says you have a 68 model year Hemi 4 speed for a B body.

That being a 68 makes me think somebody has been inside it. That side cover looks like the 70 T/A & 71 up interlock side cover.

If you are going to use it I would suggest you do a little deep dive in it and see if it has been done right or patched.

For sure, the side cover is an interlock side cover, not a ball and detent.

I thought the cover looked off , that's a down grade , why would someone do that ???

To get the stronger steel shifting forks?

Cut the nubs off and use them in with the ball and detent side cover.

Exactly that's what I have done before , now Brewer and Passon offer steel forks without the nubs.

Just an FYI on your project.

About the interlock side covers. The forks are stronger but the interlock system is prone to break.

The preferred upgrade is to use the stronger steel forks with the older ball and detent style cover.

I can't afford it but would be curious what you sell it for.

Actually anyone have a good idea about how much to list this thing for? Not worried about getting maximum dollar, just want it out of my garage and in a good home.

Can you grab the numbers off the raised machine pad? Many folks including myself are looking for their original transmission cases.
